6/1
Yesterday I moved into my residence for the rest of my stay, which is a shared house (dormitory, but privately owned) in Motosumiyoshi. My hosts have repeatedly told me about how shockingly old it looks, but it's cheap and comfortable enough that I can overlook the small inconveniences.
The inconveniences:
- The men's bathroom is on the first floor. I'm on the second floor, and as far away from the stairs as possible.
- Laundry, kitchen and showers are also on the first floor, and as far away from the stairs as possible.
- The showers have 'hot' and 'cold' knobs, but I've yet to determine whether any function exists relating my turning of the knobs to the temperature of the water, or whether the oscillations from blisteringly hot to unspeakably cold are truly random. The scientist in me wants to look for statistical significance, but the rest of me doesn't want to shower for 2 months. Edit: figured out the shower! As it turns out, you need to blast both knobs in order to fine-tune the water temperature.
My room, with my shopping spread all over the floor. It's got AC, a fridge and a wifi port, which is all I need really. |
